Ubisoft & Immutable: A Web3 Gaming Alliance

In the latest "who's who" of tech partnerships, AAA gaming bigshot Ubisoft is joining forces with blockchain game firm Immutable. Their mission? To sprinkle some Web3 magic into mainstream gaming. Because apparently, regular gaming wasn’t cutting-edge enough. The goal? To make games so seamless that players forget they're in a Web3 world and just have fun. Revolutionary, right?

Here’s the backstory: Immutable’s got some flagship titles that quickly got pretty famous – think Guild of Guardians, Metalcore, Shardbound, and Infinite Victory. Each game is its own flavor of Web3, offering players the ability to own their in-game assets for real.

And let’s not forget Immutable’s latest tech offering – the Immutable zkEVM on Polygon. For those who skipped blockchain class, it’s a rollup solution to make transactions faster and cheaper by bundling up transactions, perfect for game developers who want to keep things smooth and snappy. Immutable’s not just playing with Ethereum though. They’ve also got Immutable X, a separate roll-up solution of their own. In plain English: They’re making it easier for game studios to create cool stuff on the Ethereum blockchain without getting tangled in technical spiderwebs.

As 2024 peeks around the corner, Web3 games are slowly becoming the cool kids in the mainstream gaming playground. Cointelegraph dropped a juicy tidbit that Illuvium Labs’ flagship title, Illuvium, will hit the Epic Games Store on Nov. 28. That's the same store that houses Fortnite, so you know it's a big deal.

So, what's the bottom line? Ubisoft and Immutable are essentially throwing a Web3 party in the gaming world, and everyone's invited. The ideas are cool
now let’s see the products.

Web3 Cashes In: Solana's Big Break at Breakpoint

The Geral is the only place where you won’t hear about Solana this month because it moved up X%, but because of actual activity in its ecosystem. At Solana Breakpoint, in Amsterdam, it was all about Web3 tools not just talking the talk, but walking the walk. You know, like actually making an impact and not just being a tech buzzword. A mix of Web2, Web3, and old-school businesses all showed up to geek out over how Solana’s shaking up things in the world.

Take Boba Guys, the bubble tea brand that’s trying to be the Starbucks of tapioca. They tested a new loyalty app, built on Solana, in San Francisco, and guess what? It actually worked. The Boba Guys bosses, Bin Chen and Andrew Chau, even boasted about a 67% increase in monthly visits and a 65% jump in spending from these app users.

Josh Fried from Solana Foundation, said this loyalty app is a real-world, money-making use of Web3. He claims the Boba Guys pilot is like striking gold, with an 800% return on investment. For every dollar they spent, they got nine back. Now they’re planning to expand the program to their stores in New York and Los Angeles.

While Fried’s buzzing with optimism, he admits there’s a mountain of work ahead to make Solana Pay a household name. He compares it to Google Pay’s slow climb to fame, mentioning that even the tech titan needed time to make it big. Fried's excitement peaked when talking about Visa’s move to do bank settlements on the Solana blockchain. Let’s see if big payment names jumping into Web3 is what’s going to make this whole thing really take off

ADGM's New Web3 Rulebook: A Beacon of Hope or Just More Paperwork?

As always, The Geral’s got your back for the latest on how Web3 is reshaping the business landscape, one regulation at a time. In the world of blockchain and Web3, where the only constant is change (and maybe a few crypto crashes), Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) just dropped a regulatory bombshell. They've rolled out a fancy new framework for Web3 organizations, also named the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Foundations Regulation.

So what’s the deal? This new rulebook is basically ADGM’s attempt to make sense of the Wild West that is Web3. In theory, starting a DLT Foundation in ADGM is as easy as pie. Just hand in a charter detailing your assets, tokens, and governance model. But there's a catch: you’ve got to stick “DLT Foundation” to your project’s name. It's like calling your dog "Dog" – inventive and straight to the point.

This regulatory stroke of genius didn't just appear out of thin air. The ADGM spent early 2023 asking for opinions, because what’s a new regulation without a public consultation?

In a move that screams ‘innovation’, the ADGM is also using DLT in their courts. Because nothing says 'future' like using blockchain to solve legal snarls. And they’ve also set up a $2 billion fund to support DLT firms, because why not?

Aligning with the Financial Services Regulatory Authority's guiding principles, ADGM's approach is a mix of 'we've thought this through' and 'let’s hope this works'. They're all about creating a robust legal framework, but also about embracing inclusiveness and innovation. Exciting times ahead for DAOs looking for a legal home base!
