The Smartphone-Web3 Merger

Tired of Web3 apps making you feel like you need a PhD in computer science? Valora has decided enough is enough. The US-based peer-to-peer payments platform is jumping into the Web3-smartphone mashup scene with its latest innovation: Mobile Stack. This platform promises to make Web3 apps as smooth and easy to use as ordering takeout. Jackie Bona, Valora’s Co-Founder and CEO, shared the news over the weekend on X. In a brief 45-second clip—because who has time for more nowadays—she explained how Mobile Stack will allow users to create dApps instantly. Yes, you heard that right—instantly.

Mobile Stack isn’t just about creating dApps. It’s got everything you need: an email-based one-tap onboarding process, onramp services to purchase crypto via fiat (no more endless verifications), and an easy swipe for crypto tokens. It’s like the magic wand for Web3.

Valora’s official website reveals a surprising fact: only eight of the top hundred web3 firms offer mobile-based experiences. It seems like the rest of the web3 world is still figuring out how to make their complex apps fit into our pockets. Valora describes the current methods for making Web3 apps compatible with smartphones as ‘cumbersome.’ And we couldn’t agree more. It’s like trying to run with a backpack full of rocks.

Valora isn’t the only player in this game. Binance-backed CoralApp recently introduced the Coral Phone with Web3 capabilities. Africa’s Jambo launched the JamboPhone in May, and Solana Labs, the pioneer in this field, brought us the Solana Saga smartphone back in 2022.

Despite these advancements, merging Web3 with smartphones is still a work in progress. The Mobile Stack blog points out that building secure, comprehensive crypto mobile apps is no easy feat. Creating an intuitive user interface for these complex functionalities is even more challenging. Without a straightforward design method, web3 might miss its chance to attract new users.

So, will Valora’s Mobile Stack be the solution we’ve all been waiting for? Stay tuned to find out!

Revolutionizing Multi-Blockchain Coordination

Ever felt like Web3 is a bit like herding cats? Agoric just tossed us a game-changer with their new Orchestration API. Forget juggling a million different blockchains and all their quirks—this API lets developers create Web3 apps that play nice across the board. We’re talking one-click interactions to spread your liquidity across multiple blockchains without breaking a sweat.

Let’s face it, the current state of Web3 is like trying to run a three-legged race with seven legs. We’ve got over $2 trillion stuck in fragmented blockchain ecosystems—Ethereum, Solana, L2s, L3s, app-chains, sovereign rollups, subnets... you get the idea. Each one demands more user actions and signatures than a Hollywood divorce settlement.

Orchestration changes many things:

- For Users: Finally, real chain abstraction. One-click to rule them all

- For Developers: Cross-chain programmability. A JavaScript API that’s as easy as pie.

- For the Ecosystem: Composability across protocols. Liquidity flows freely like a Friday night at the pub.

Dean Tribble, CEO of Agoric Systems, said it best: “We’re excited to offer a platform that enables rich, one-click user experiences that unlock new economic opportunities across multiple chains. Currently in Web3, even simple tasks demand too many actions and too much finicky expertise by users. Agoric Orchestration brings unique technology to developers so they can bring their applications into the next generation of Web3.”

Here it is. Finally a way to simplify moving liquidity across blockchains. Do you see this as being the next big thing for builders?

Web3 Solutions Transform Water Access in Rural India

Imagine having to choose between getting an education and fetching water. Unfortunately, that’s been a reality for many in rural India. But guess what? Web3 is stepping up to change the game. The Crypto Council for Innovation just highlighted a case study showing how decentralized solutions are improving water access and creating jobs in drought-prone areas.

India’s population has skyrocketed by about a billion over the past six decades, while water availability has plummeted by 75%. The result? Severe water shortages, especially in rural regions. This crisis has had a profound impact on daily life and education. School dropout rates have surged by 20% because kids are forced to prioritize water collection over learning. And if that wasn’t bad enough, nearly half of the women in these areas frequently collect unsafe water.

In response to this dire situation, Atlantis DAO has launched initiatives to enhance water accessibility and create economic opportunities. By leveraging a peer-to-peer water network, they’ve improved access to clean water, made water collection more efficient, and opened up new income sources.

During an 11-month project, the results have been nothing short of transformative:

  • Over 80% of the 4,000 participants reported better access to clean water.

  • Approximately 450 new jobs were created within the network.

  • Nearly all participants experienced improved community cooperation.

So there you have it, folks. Web3 isn’t just about crypto and NFTs; it’s making real, tangible differences in the world. And if it can help solve a water crisis in rural India, just imagine what else it can do.
